1000 Words

7/2/2025

Hello NewLife,

First, I would like to thank you all for singing on my birthday on Sunday! It was a blast and a wonderful way to celebrate my “25th” birthday!

As we continued to study the book of Galatians, we pressed specifically into Gal. 4:8-5:15 this week and explored the word pictures Paul used to express his major concern for the Galatians and the direction that they were taking spiritually. Here’s a brief summary of the word pictures:

Slavery
Paul is warning them not to slip away from Christ under the influence of anything that is not Him. This leads us to slavery again (Gal. 4:8), which he’s trying to prevent. He warns them that they aren’t even listening to the truth he is sharing with them and instead are viewing him as an enemy because of this (Gal. 4:16).

Pain
Paul uses the word picture of childbirth to express his distress of what’s happening to them and that he feels as though he’s birthing them again in Christ (Gal. 4:19).

Yoke of Slavery
Here the Apostle exhorts us to stand strong and not to submit again to a yoke of slavery (Gal. 5:1). Christ Jesus has set us free and we are not to submit again to slavery.

Let’s walk in freedom together!
Pastor Andy

I am a child of God
Fill in the blank for yourself:
           I’m no longer a slave to _______

I am a child of God
2.How are you responding to the truth of Christ? Are you responding? Avoiding? Angry?
     3. What are the personal spots in which you need to stand strong in Christ?
