Answered Prayer

6/23/2026

“...how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”
 Luke 11:13b, NIV

How appropriate it was to pause and give glory to our Heavenly Father on Father’s Day this past Sunday by sharing ways He has answered our prayers recently! Thank you to each of you who shared on Sunday and thank you to each of you who participated in the 30 Day Prayer Challenge. Now that the 30 day prayer challenge has come to an end, let us challenge ourselves to continue to pray similarly moving forward!

As we walk forward in prayer, let’s keep these Scriptures in mind:
  • Jesus taught a parable to teach His disciples to always pray and not give up, as seen in Luke 18:1. When a parable is explained by Jesus or by one of the gospel writers, we need to sit up and take note because the point is being made clear. Here, Jesus wants His followers to be persistent in prayer...and then to persist even more.
  • Additionally, Jesus taught in Luke 11:13 to ask the Father for the Holy Spirit. Jesus specifically points out how the Father gives the Holy Spirit to those who ask. If you’re looking for a sure fire way to pray, then ask for the Holy Spirit, Jesus tells us the Father loves to give good gifts!

Many of us could have shared an answer to prayer on Sunday. And many of us are still waiting for God's answer to our prayer for His help, His guidance, His healing, His provision, etc. All the while, our heart are breaking as we wait. It’s in these seasons that we learn to wait on the Lord, as the Psalms often exhort. It's also a time to ask God to give us undivided hearts, so that we would know His faithfulness and fear Him (Ps. 86:11), even when we don’t understand. Please don’t hear me being trite in this, as I personally have walked through seasons like that, where everything felt like a dark night of the soul. May we be reminded, even then, friends, that He sees through the darkness when it seems to close in around us (Ps. 139:11-12).

Friends, let’s keep seeking His face together!

Pastor Andy

Please read Acts 2 for Sunday.

Questions for reflection and discussion:
  • What prayers have you seen God answer recently?
  • What prayers are you willing to persistently and consistently bring to the Father?
  • Are you asking the Father to fill you with the Holy Spirit in Jesus’ Name?
