Celebrate the Light

We have entered the Advent season and we have much to celebrate! Jesus changed everything with His birth and He gave us many things at Advent. Here’s a list of the things we walked through on Sunday, exploring what Jesus brought at Advent:

• He was the "Logos", a rich word with Old Testament meanings; Jesus was the self-expression of God, the Divine Word Himself (John 1:1)
• In Him was life - the Divine life - life as God intended (1:4a)
• And, that life was the light of men. The life of Jesus not only gives us spiritual understanding of things, but also hope of eternal life (1:4b)
• He became flesh and dwelt among us, with the Greek word meaning He “tabernacled’ with us. This is a direct reference to the Tent of Meeting which was God’s Presence with the people as they traveled in the desert (1:14)
• He gave us grace upon grace (1:16)
• In contrast to the Law which God gave to Moses, Grace and Truth came through Jesus Christ (1:17)
• Christ has made the Father known to us (1:18)
• To those who believe Him, He’s given the right to become children of God (1:12)

All of this came from the fullness of Jesus (1:16). In Jesus, God has given us every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places (Eph. 1:3). We are the blessed recipients of God’s grace to us in Christ. As we go through Advent this year, let’s remember what Jesus brought at His birth and reflect on Him this season!
