Galatians 2

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live but Christ lives in me.

The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God,

who loved me and gave himself for me. 

Gal. 2:20, NIV

The Holy Spirit gives us P.E.P. for our steps in our walk with Jesus:

Positioned: We’ve been crucified with Jesus and we’re now seated in him in the heavenly places (Eph. 2:6). We can now live what’s called the “Overcoming Life” which is power in Christ and His victory over sin. This is sometimes called the “Higher Life” in older Christian literature. Our death with Christ happens when we put our faith in Him for salvation. 

Experiential: “the life I now live in the body” is living out the fact that Christ is living within us, in our everyday lives. That’s why it’s experiential. It’s experiencing Him and drawing our lives from Him moment by moment. As we noted on Sunday, this is what the worship lyric was referring to when it sang, “This is the air I breathe, this is the air I breathe. Your holy presence, living in me.”
Progressive: Our experience of Christ will lead us in progressive life transformation. Bit by bit, Jesus changes us. This is why we live our life in this body by faith in Him. He’s the only one worthy of our faith, seeing as He’s the Son of God who loved us and gave Himself up for us.
