Keeping Our Eyes on Jesus into the New Year

Dear NewLife Family,
As we walk into the new year of 2026 with Jesus and one another, here are some ways to keep our eyes on Him, based on Philippians 1:1-6:

Purpose: we are servants of Christ Jesus. This is our identity and transcends everything that we do so that we’re here on earth to serve Him.
Peace: Paul is encouraging us to follow the ancient path and practices that lead us into deeper intimacy with Jesus and lead us to joy and peace (shalom). In our new study of Philippians, I’m going to be highlighting these as practices of joy.
Prayer: we pray for one another and our needs as well as listening to Jesus in prayer. This helps us to be sure we’re in step with Him and are aligned with His purpose for us.
Partnership: as we partner with others to spread the Gospel, here and literally around the world, we’re helping to fulfill His great commission (Matt. 28:18-20). This also helps us to keep our eyes upon Him because without Him, we can’t move forward.
Promise: God the Father will keep working in us until the day of Christ Jesus. He’s working to transform us in the image of Jesus and to mature us in Him. This gives us hope so that we know we aren’t stuck the way we are because He’s at work in us.
