Letter to NewLife

Hello Friends, here is the letter that I read on Sunday morning of what I felt like Jesus is saying to us here at NewLife. I spent a lot of time in the letters to the churches in Revelation during my sabbatical, so I used that model to verbalize what I felt the Lord was saying to our church.  

My Beloved NewLife, 

I have paid for you and bought your freedom with my own life, and you have responded in faith. You have remained faithful to Me and to My Word, and you worship Me rightly, genuinely, and humbly. You love the people in your church family but some of you are hiding from Me and others don’t know how to connect with your family here.

You have put your faith in Me and faithfully call upon Me but there are some of you who only will accept Me so that I can save them… but not more than that. You fall short of allowing me to be your Shepherd, to guide you and fulfill your life’s purposes that have been part of My plan from on old. 

NewLife, you need New Life breathed into you by Me. You are a community church, therefore build the community within your church family and reclaim your missional presence in the surrounding community. Some of you come and take from the life of the community here at NewLife but don’t give back while the serving is left to a tired but inspired few. 

Remember how you once walked with Me so closely. Some of you have never had that close fellowship with Me, some of you are complacent, and there are some of you who have hearts with good soil that bears fruit and bears fruit. May this last part of my flock at NewLife continue to serve earnestly because you will reap a harvest. Hold on! 

Now NewLife, be encouraged! To those of you who seek Me, you will find Me, so keep seeking Me! I hold the keys of David and what I have opened, no one shuts, and what I have shut, no one opens. The door is open before you. It’s still the Day. The door is still open, much as some of you try to close this door to fellowship with Me, or ignore it, or act too busy to listen to me, but I still stand at your door knocking and how you respond to my invitation will shape the rest of your life. 

I invite you:

Come TO Me all who are weary and burdened and heavy laden and I will give you rest

And then you need to Come WITH Me to find the rest your heart has been seeking for in so many other ways. 

Don’t just learn about Me, don’t rest in a church that has a good reputation or your own perceived good reputation because I have more work for you to do but only through Me.

See, I’m doing a new thing among you, NewLife! I’m calling you to listen to Me and to love Me. 

I am calling you to hold on to Me and I will show you the way you should go for not only do I have my eye upon you but I am your very life so abide in Me! Abiding in Me will be how you have fruitful lives, fruitful ministries and how I will knit you together as you build community with one another and as you serve and walk among those who don’t know me. Come to Me, My Beloved NewLife.
