NewLife Goals: Connect

11/6/2024

I shared a story on Sunday in the second service that I think I may not have shared with you all in the first service. My apologies as that sometimes happens. I recounted how we were handing candy out last week and there were a couple of times when the wrapper was sealed but empty of candy. So you need to know that this week I went to grab one of the leftover candies for myself and there was another empty wrapper! How disappointing to have it look like it was what it was supposed to be on the outside only to find out that it was empty on the inside, especially since chocolate was involved.

Connections can be like that, too. Whether it be our connection to Jesus, with one another at NewLife, or missionally in our community, it’s imperative that our connections are genuine and authentic. Yep, these words can be overused in our society but I’m sincere (see what I did there?) in using them. The Lord Jesus wants people to know who He is for real and respond with real faith (Luke 7:36-50). The Father is looking for true worshippers (John 4:23) and those in the community need to have real opportunities to experience Jesus if they are going to know how His love and Presence transcend everything (John 4).

Did you notice that two of the three situations we studied on Sunday were around the fact that Jesus was a prophet? That’s very significant because prophets don’t mess around when it comes to telling the truth, sharing God’s message, and representing the One who sent them. So, let’s take seriously God’s Son, the Anointed One who was the fulfillment of all the prophets and heed His message. He was sincere in everything He said and did, after all.

Keep listening to Him as He leads you into a deeper connection with Himself!

Questions for Reflection:
  1. How would you describe your connection with Jesus? Do you talk often?
  2. What’s the status of your relationships and connections with your church family? Do you all talk often?
  3. How are you living as a witness in your community? Do you all talk often?

Some ways to Connect at NewLife:
  • The announcement slides below are some of the ways to connect with others in the body. Jump in any time!
  • Volunteer. Since COVID, the volunteer base at NewLife has been much smaller than in the past. We are always looking for people willing to help with: Greeting, Hospitality team, flower beds, Music team, Prayer room on Sunday mornings, Sound booth, or Kids Min as a teacher, helper, sub, or nursery worker.
