NewLife News: Serve

For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve,
and to give his life as a ransom for many. Mark 10:45

Dear friends,
We discussed our final NewLife goal this week: Serve. We want to serve the Lord and bring Him honor, which means we view our lives as a platform for serving Him and ministering to others in His name. While serving can often not be very glamorous, there is definitely an upside to serving.

Here are some of the benefits:

We join Jesus on His personal mission.
We get to see Him work in our lives and in the lives of others.
We get to walk in the attitude that is ours in Christ Jesus (Philippians 2:5)
We get to be formed in His image for the sake of others, as we saw Sunday in the thought from Robert Mullholland.

Yet, as we serve Him, we must ensure we do these two things, as Joshua admonished the nation of Israel in his farewell speech;

Choose the Lord (Josh. 24:15)
Be very careful to love Him (Josh. 23:11)

If we will do these things with sincerity and embrace the ways God is forming us into the image of Jesus, we just might end up serving Him in ways we never thought possible or expected!

Let us rejoice and be thankful in this week of Thanksgiving, my friends, because our Lord and Savior did not come to be served but to give His life as a ransom for many. In this we rejoice!
