Temptation

Every follower of Jesus can learn from Jesus’ resistance to temptation. He understood His mission and refuted the devil’s temptations to short circuit the cross. How did Jesus refute the devil? He applied Scripture to each situation that the enemy was bringing to Him. In overcoming these temptations and the other various ones (see Matt. 4:1, 16:22-23), Jesus fulfilled His purpose as Savior. 

In accomplishing His mission, Jesus:

• Set us free from our sins by His blood, Rev. 1:6. 
• Gaves us a way to endure, 1 Cor. 10:13.
• Became our High Priest, Heb. 4:14-16
• Defeated the evil one, Luke 11:21-22.

On Sunday we did two things:

1. Examined our lives with the leading of the Holy Spirit to know what helpful things He wants us to keep and what hinderences we need to throw away (Eccl. 3:6) in our journey with Jesus.
2. Challenged ourselves to pray for the major issues in our lives, our marriages, our families, our work and praying for our enemies for 30 days. 

Keep pressing into these two disciplines!
