The Great Exchange

Saul was drawing from murderous and hateful things within his own heart when he was persecuting Christians (Acts 9:1). In order to change, he needed to experience Jesus and have a heart change that would lead to important transformation in his life. This is precisely why Jesus said it’s the things that come out of our hearts that defile us (Luke 6:45). We are each in dire need of a new heart, of meeting Jesus so that we can know Him and His loving forgiveness.  

We see Saul’s experience of Jesus in Acts 9. From this account, we see how the Lord appeared to him as he was on the road to Damascus. From that point on, Saul was a changed man with a changed purpose in life. There was a great exchange that took place when Saul put his faith in Jesus. Paul would later write to the Corinthians that those who put their faith in Christ are a new creation and the old person is gone (2 Cor. 5:17). That’s the great exchange, it’s Christ’s life who is now within us and we’re no longer the same person!

Let us all say Amen to Christ being our life-changing Savior!
