The One Anothers

8/5/2026

This concept of one another is about the Church. So yes, I am talking about people at NewLife - how we are to treat each other. NewLife should be a place where people feel welcomed, seen, loved and encouraged. NewLife should be a safe haven for believers to step out of the world and have peace, comfort and refreshment before going back out in the battle. You are to receive that at NewLife, but you are also responsible for helping create that environment.

We can’t ignore who the authors of those New Testament books were addressing. Paul was writing to "the Church" in those towns, meaning all believers in that town. So if Paul wrote a book to the Church in Fredericktown, it would include all Jesus-believing congregations- the entirety of believers in the town. So yes I am talking about NewLife, but I am also talking about how we treat EVERY believer. It isn’t just NewLife making the raft - we should be able to go anywhere there are Christians and join their raft, all over the world.

If we just focus on our congregation, are we more like that one ant trying to survive on its own? Is the colony of ants more similar to the numerous Jesus-centered congregations? Together we should point people to Christ, help weather the storm, and offer refuge in times of need.

I believe we are called to one another - all believers. It is by our love for each other that the world will know we are Christians. Our testimonies are our stories about how Jesus saved us. Our lives should be living out our salvation by how we love others (because He first loved us).

Don’t forget: We aren't to "one another" each other out of our own abilities, but to love others through the wisdom and guidance of the Spirit. Look how Christ "one anothered" us to see how we are to "one another" fellow believers.

I am aware I have turned a reciprocal pronoun into a verb - and that isn’t good English - but you will have a harder time forgetting it that way : )

Blessings,
Kyle

PS. I will be preaching on Sunday, concerning the doctrine of future things and the 2nd coming of Christ. Andy plans to be there too, but will not preach until the 16th. See you Sunday!
