The Word

​On Sunday, we heard Glenn preach on the doctrine of the Word. Glenn reminded us that the Word of God from Genesis 1 to Revelation 22 is the inspired Word of God and only God could bring together 66 books written over 1500 years by 40 authors with over 63,000 internal cross references. God's Word is a beautiful picture of His love story to us - including a warning when we choose our own paths.

We must understand that the Bible isn’t an option for Christians. It is the primary way God reveals Himself to us. Yes, we can see God revealed in His creation, but through Scripture God reveals not only Himself, but also:

• His love for us
• Jesus’s role as Savior
• the Holy Spirit as our guide
• the promise of Jesus’ return
• and so much more!

Please, be in the Word everyday with the expectation that God will speak to you and with the intent to obey what the Word teaches. Bask in the love that God has for us, but also heed the warnings that we must be obedient and follow Gods instruction.

Glenn used the comparison of a car manual. To make the car work as designed, we must follow the guidelines and recommendations of the manual. Bad things happen when we don’t.

Just like that manual, God gave us the Bible to help navigate life, to learn about Him and His plan, and to grow in our relationship with our Creator. For our lives to function as designed, we must follow its guidelines and recommendations.

An acronym someone made up describes the Bible as:

Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth

Claiming ignorance, pretending it doesn’t apply to us, or reinterpreting what it means does not rid us of consequences. All of us are responsible to know the Word, spread the Word and live the Word.
