A certain NewLifer approached me after the first service on Sunday, in which we studied the longing for Emmanuel (God with us). By way of reminder, we studied Genesis 3, and how longing entered the human heart after Adam and Eve fell into sin. This member showed these two pictures of what he thought vegetables were like: one before the fall, and the other after the fall. You will see that this is rather tongue and cheek - or is it?!
While we’ll never know exactly what the garden of Eden was like, we do know the great Redeemer who came to rescue us, Jesus! His great promise of resurrection from the dead is the blessed promise that He will bring us into glory with Himself. Until then, we still long for His second advent! Paul says this beautifully in Philippians 3:20-21:
But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like His glorious body, by the power that enables Him even to subject all things to Himself.
So my friends, as we wait for Jesus to come a second time, let us keep pressing forward to take hold of that for which Christ took hold of us (Phil. 3:12). He has promised to go with us until the very end of the age (Matt. 28:18-20).
